Private Pilot Program

Private Pilot Program is structured in 4 stages. Each stage consists of flight time and ground instruction or ground school as is commonly called.

Stage one consists of:

             Flight time                    10 hours

             Ground School              20 hours

Pre& post flight review     5 hours

Materials covered in this stage will include Airplane systems, Aerodynamic principles, the flight environment, communication and flight info.

Flight time will cover straight and level flight at various configurations, climbs and turns to compass heading and constant rate and speed. Ground reference maneuvers such as S-turns and turns around a point (wind drift correction maneuvers). Rectangular pattern flight which is a primer for traffic pattern flight necessary for approach to an airport and landing.

Maneuvering at slow airspeed will be introduced along with aerodynamic stalls such as arrival and departure stalls (power on and power stalls).

Stage Two consists of:

             Flight time                              10 hours

             Ground school                          6 hours

Pre & post flight review              5 hours

Materials covered in this stage will include Meteorology for pilots, Federal Aviation Regulations, Interpreting weather data.

Flight time will review maneuvering at slow flights, introduce radio communications, practice traffic patterns in crosswind configurations and practice short field take off and land along with soft field take off and land (grass field operation). Flight with reference only to instruments is introduced in this stage.

Stage Three consists of:

             Flight Time                               15 hours

             Ground school                          15 hours

Pre and post flight review           3 hours

Materials covered in this stage will include airplane performance such as calculating take off distance and landing time distance to climb along with calculating fuel burn, endurance, navigation.

Human factors in flying

Navigation

Flight time will consist of supervised solo flights locally along with cross country flight (flight of more than 50 nautical miles).

In this stage private pilot knowledge test must be completed, a test score of 85 or better is recommended. Assistance is provided for test prep.

Stage Four consists of:

             Flight time                                5 hours

             Ground school                          3 hours

Pre & post flight review              3 hours

This stage prepares you for the FAA practical Exam. A comprehensive review of all Flight Tasks required to be demonstrated.
